West Publishing's Campaign Contributions
This is our first report on West Publishing campaign contributions.
It appeared in an
August 16, 1994, issue of Tap-Info.
We have subsquently updated the August 16, 1994 report.
Like the first report, we examine campaign contributions from:
- West Publishing Company
- West Publishing's PAC
- Members of the Opperman family (Until the sale of the
company to Thomson, the Opperman family ran West Publishing.
Dwight Opperman was the Chairman of the Board, and his son
Vance was the President. The Opperman family members owned
a very large share of the company).
- The Law Firm of Schatz, Paquin, Lockridge, Grindal, and Holstein (This
law firm does much of West Publishing's legal work and was formerly
called Opperman, Heins, and Paquin).
- The Schatz, Paquin, Lockridge, Grindal, and Holstein PAC
- Partners and family members of partners of Schatz, Paquin, plus
Gerry Sikorski, an employee of Schatz Paquin who lobbies for West.
Note: These tables include contributions made from 1993 through the second
quarter of 1996.
