Administration page on
Market Access Information, by country, has a lot of useful
information, including, for many countries, html versions
of country reports for the National Trade Estimates Reports,
from 1996 to 1998. These are quite useful.
The ITA page on
International Trade Agreements. This page has
the text of many bilaterial and multilateral trade agreements,
including agreements on intellectual property.
HR 1708.
The Affordable Prescription Drugs Act. This bill was introduced in Congress by
Rep. Sherrod Brown on April 27, 2001. It would establish compulsory licening
for prescription drugs, and it would require pharmaceutical companies to
disclose financial information necessary to evaluate the prices charged. Also,
see the
fact sheet on this bill from Rep. Brown's office.
HR 1690. The Export-Import Bank HIV/AIDS Medicine Access Promotion Act. This bill was
introduced in Congress by Rep. Maxine Waters May 2, 2001. It would prohibit
Export-Import Bank guarantees, insurance and credit for the benefit of
American companies that are trying to overturn developing countries' AIDS
access laws. Also, see the Letter from Rep.
Waters seeking support for the legislation.
Note: Most of our information on particular country disputes, is placed
in the various subject areas, such as the pages on parallel imports,
compulsory licensing, and other topics. One dispute that we haven't found
a home for yet are the following items concerning the Thailand tobacco
