This is in reference to your letter dated November 7, 2000, regarding the supply of Nevimune tablets for prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV infection. I appreciate the magnamity shown by M/s Cipla Limited in offering free supply of Nevimune for PMTCT.

As you are aware, for the effective interruption of transmission from mother to child, child formulation of Nevirapine will also be required. Therefore, it would be appropriate if formulation for the new borns may also be made available for optimizing the effect of the drug on prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV.
