Rachel M. Cohen
Rachel M. Cohen is the US Advocacy Liaison for Doctors Without
Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières’ (MSF) Campaign for Access to
Essential Medicines. Cohen represents MSF's Campaign to US
government officials and agencies, pharmaceutical companies,
non-governmental organizations, philanthropic foundations, and
academic institutions on advocacy issues related to ensuring
equitable access to effective and affordable medicines for people
in developing countries. As the spokesperson for MSF's Access
Campaign in the United States, Cohen has briefed members of the
US Congress, addressed a wide range of audiences—including industry
executives, academics, the media, activists, medical and public health
students, and the general public—and given numerous press interviews,
including to the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the
Washington Post, and CNN. Prior to joining MSF in 1999, Cohen
served as the Director of Foundation and Corporate Giving at
Housing Works, the largest minority-controlled AIDS service
organization in the United States, which serves homeless people
with HIV/AIDS, and as Program Coordinator for the US+Cuba Medical
Project, where she directed medical aid programs and carried out
educational and advocacy initiatives about the impact of US foreign
policy on the health of the Cuban population.
